Let's Graffiti a Gallery!

I live in Winnipeg.
As much as people complain about this Canadian prairie city, it's pretty cool.
For example, this fall the Winnipeg Art Gallery is celebrating fibre artists with the CRAFTED Show+Sale. And part of this awesome event is yarn bombing the building.
To do this, they are calling for knitters and crocheters to make scarves.
Any colour, any fibre. They just require the scarves to be 12 inches wide and 60 inches long.
After the exhibit is over, they are donating all the scarves to Chase the Chill Winnipeg.
Which means that these pieces will be repurposed and donated to shelters around the city.

I have made one so far, and am working on another. Would you like to join this awesome effort?
Reasons to participate:
1) to be able to say that your art has been displayed in an art museum
2) keep people warm during our very cold winters.
3) use up that stash! Check on twitter and instagram to see what my scarves are like.

Please consider joining in! You can make scarves 12 by 60 inches in length and send them or bring them to Wolseley Wool or Ram Wool Yarn Co-op in Winnipeg so they recieve your creation by September 15.

I'll be sure to update you on the exhibit later on.

ps: are you following me on bloglovin? please do!

  1. Hey Bee!

This is a Fab idea!!! I'm going to dig in my STASH to see what I can design... Are you designing something artsy original but fabulously functional?

    All the best,

    1. It's probably more on the functional side than the artsy side! But a bunch of my stash is used up, and I did put colours together that I would normally be a little afraid of (but it works!).
      Can't wait to see yours!
