Coco Chanel Jacket

Its a strange coincidence that a lot of my favourite patterns of late have been named Coco ( see the Coco dress, and now this).
This beautiful crocheted jacket pattern can be found in Simply Crochet magazine Issue 16, right on the cover in fact. Its simplicity and classic design has made me fall so in love with it.

I have been told by several people that It looks as if I bought it. A couple pluses to hand making clothes: save money like crazy, make it to fit your own body perfectly, and use vintage buttons. And bragging rights.

I could only give one little piece of advice for making this sweater. Make it longer. I probably added 10+ rows to the body and the sleeves, and it is still slightly short ( good for high waisted skirts though).

I used Berroco Vintage DK for this little beaut, and it was so nice to work with. The wool/acrylic/nylon blend is warm, and easy to clean! That means I have been wearing it at every possible opportunity.

Ok, enough bragging. Can't let my head get too big.
Is it okay to brag about your homemade clothes? Do you do that too, just a little? It's ok to be honest. :)

Happy Summer Folks!

  1. So pretty! I bought that magazine just for that pattern and yours is making me really want to do it.

    1. Oh goodness this coming from you is like the best compliment ever! Thank you!
